New Delhi, Oct. 13 -- Former IAS officer Kannan Gopinathan joined the Indian National Congress today at the AICC headquarters here, in the presence of senior Congress leaders KC Venugopal, Pawan Khera and others.
Welcoming Gopinathan into the party fold, Pawan Khera highlighted his "courageous stand during challenging times".
"Kannan Gopinathan ji, a 2012 batch IAS officer, raised his voice at a time when speaking out was almost impossible in the country." Khera said.
Khera said, "He spoke out strongly when Jammu & Kashmir was turned from a state into a union Territory and he was also vocal on the issue of CAA. He sent a clear message that the right of people to speak cannot be taken away".
