Hassan, Jan. 24 -- Former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) Rajya Sabha MP, HD Deve Gowda, today alleged that the Congress had made attempts to finish the JD(S), but asserted that the regional party had continued to grow steadily in Karnataka with the support and blessings of the people.
Addressing party workers ahead of a district-level programme, Deve Gowda said the JD(S) had been built step by step over the years and had strong roots among the masses. Recalling his own political journey, he said he was first elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly and, through the trust and support of the people, gradually rose to occupy higher responsibilities, eventually becoming the Prime Minister of the country.
