Mumbai, Nov. 22 -- Former minister and Congress leader Yashomati Thakur from Amravati criticised the BJP on Saturday for claiming that 100 of its councillors "won unopposed" from various local civic bodies in Maharashtra.

Thakur alleged the BJP's "dynastic politics" has reached even local bodies and that even the police force was pressured to ensure such "unopposed victories" of relatives of BJP leaders.

Local civic body elections to 246 municipal councils and 42 nagar panchayats (city councils) in Maharashtra are scheduled for December 2, and votes will be counted on December 3, 2025.
