New Delhi, Dec. 30 -- Raising serious concerns over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, the Congress on Tuesday demanded transparency and clear explanations from the Election Commission of India (ECI), alleging arbitrariness and targeted deletion of voters in states such as West Bengal and Tamil Nadu.

Addressing a press conference at the All India Congress Committee headquarters, Congress MP Sasikanth Senthil said the manner in which the SIR was being conducted in 12 states had created "strong doubts" among citizens, particularly the poor and marginalised, who were most vulnerable to exclusion from electoral rolls.
