Bengaluru, Jan. 24 -- Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, today accused the Congress party of shaming the honour of Karnataka after a Congress MP allegedly trivialised the rape and murder of a foreign tourist, and demanded the immediate expulsion of MP Rajashekar Hitnal.

Addressing the media here, Narayanaswamy said the brutal rape and murder of a woman who had come from abroad as a tourist was not just a national issue but one with serious international ramifications. He strongly objected to the manner in which MP Rajashekar Hitnal had referred to the incident as a "minor" issue, calling it a reflection of the Congress party's insensitive and inhuman political culture.
