Thiruvananthapuram, Dec. 10 -- The Thiruvananthapuram Sessions Court today granted anticipatory bail to Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil in a second sexual-assault case, marking a significant turn in the ongoing legal and political controversy surrounding the Palakkad legislator.
The latest case was filed by a 23-year-old woman from Bengaluru, who alleged that Mamkootathil had lured her to a home-stay in Kerala and raped her.
According to the FIR, the complainant stated that the accused recorded the assault and used the video to threaten her. The complaint was initially emailed to the state unit of the Congress party before being forwarded to the police.
