Bengaluru, March 20 -- Even as Congress leaders insist that candidates for the Davanagere South and Bagalkot by-elections will be finalised "by tomorrow," the early nomination filed by Samartha Shamanur has introduced a note of urgency, and quiet dissonance, into the party's decision-making process.
Karnataka Legislative Council Chief Whip Saleem Ahmed said the party high command is in the final stages of consultation. "By tomorrow, I think it will be finalised who the candidates will be," he said, emphasising internal deliberations.
Karnataka Minister Eshwar Khandre echoed the line, asserting party discipline. "Everyone will accept the decision of the high command. In all probability, the decision will come tomorrow," he said.
