Kolhapur, June 16 -- People in Kolhapur and Sangli districts of Maharashtra, living along the banks of the Krushna, Panchaganga and Warna rivers, have expressed concern over Karnataka raising the water storage height in Almatti dam from 47 percent to 52 percent, fearing it could worsen the flood situation during the monsoon.
They said that the Central Water Commission (CWC) permitted the Karnataka government to fill 47 percent water storage in Almatti for June month. However, the Karnataka irrigation department has violated the CWC rules and raised the storage upto 52 percent this month.
