Kolkata, Dec. 24 -- The Calcutta High Court has directed the West Bengal government and authorities to ensure that the stalled Kolkata Metro work at the busy Chingrighata crossing, connecting Sector V to South Kolkata, is completed by February 15, 2026.
Concerned about long delays causing problems for commuters, a division bench headed by Acting Chief Justice Sujoy Paul on Tuesday ordered state authorities to inform Kolkata Metro Railway by January 6 about the three specific days on which traffic restrictions would be allowed. This would enable the final stretch of work on the Eastern Metropolitan (EM) Bypass near Salt Lake Stadium, for the construction of the overhead metro viaduct at Chingrighata, to proceed.
