Shimla, Jan. 11 -- In the wake of cracks developing in residential houses at Chalaunti (outskirts of Shimla town) allegedly due to four-lane highway construction, the district administration has constituted a committee to assess the damage and determine compensation.
Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap said the committee would be chaired by SDM Shimla (Rural) Manjeet Sharma and would submit its detailed report within a week.
The Deputy Commissioner said the administration acted promptly after receiving information late at night and immediately evacuated the affected houses to ensure safety.
