Imphal, Feb. 17 -- In a decisive crackdown on narco-terrorism, Assam Rifles, Manipur Police, and the BSF jointly destroyed 10 acres of illicit poppy cultivation in Khudei Khullen Village, near Sita, Tengnoupal District, on Monday.

A statement from HQ IGARS S said security forces reaffirm their zero-tolerance policy against narcotics, urging public support to dismantle the drug-insurgency nexus.

Large tracts of forest lands have been destroyed by drug lords by planting poppy in the Manipur hills.

Meanwhile, villagers complained of suspected militants and criminals planting poppy specially in the sacred places of the Manipuris at Mount Koubru and other places at Kangpokpi, Churachandpur districts.
