Buenos Aires, Feb. 9 -- Facundo Colidio scored two second-half goals to fire River Plate to a 2-0 home win over Independiente in the Argentine Primera Division's Apertura tournament.
After a dour first half on Saturday, Colidio put his side ahead just after the restart by meeting Gonzalo Montiel's perfectly executed cross with a close range header.
The host doubled its lead in stoppage time when Colidio sent a cool finish into the bottom-left corner after combining with Milton Casco on the counterattack.
The result at Estadio Monumental lifted River Plate to third in Group B with eight points from four matches, two points behind leader Rosario Central. Independiente is second in the 15-team group,
a point ahead of River Plate.
