Shimla, Nov. 28 -- Cold weather has begun to grip Himachal Pradesh, with temperatures dropping near freezing in several areas. Tabo in Lahaul-Spiti recorded a minimum of -7.3degC, while Kukumsari fell to -5.7degC. Kalpa and Reckong Peo also experienced temperatures close to the freezing point.

The severe cold has caused water tanks, pipelines, and roadside water to freeze in remote areas of Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, and Chamba, while frost is affecting crops in the fields. Night temperatures in 15 cities across the state have fallen below 5degC, creating cold wave-like conditions in both high-altitude areas and the plains.
