Bengaluru, Dec. 22 -- A political row has erupted in Karnataka after police booked leaders from both the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party in connection with alleged cockfighting incidents in Dakshina Kannada district, an activity that is banned under Indian law.
Police said a total of 43 people were booked in two separate cases registered over the weekend in Kepu village under the Vitla police station limits. Among those named are Puttur Congress MLA Ashok Kumar Rai and former BJP MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor, highlighting rare bipartisan legal action in the coastal district.
