Kochi, May 27 -- The Cochin Port Authority on Tuesday observed Port Day to commemorate the historic arrival of the first ship, SS Padma, into its inner harbour on May 26, 1928- a milestone that marked Cochin's emergence as a key maritime hub in India.

During the function, outstanding performers amongst the Cochin port employees for the year 2024-25 were honoured. The event was presided over by B. Kasiviswanathan, Chairperson, Cochin Port Authority (CoPA), at Samudrika Hall, North End, Willingdon Island.

As part of the celebration, the people were given a unique opportunity to visit a ship berthed at the BTP Berth, North End, Willingdon Island. The ship was open for public viewing from 10 AM to 4 PM.
