Bhubaneswar, Oct. 24 -- Forest officials of Odisha's Bhitarkanika National Park today rescued two poisonous snakes which had strayed into houses of villages located within the national park.

"While a five-feet-long monocled cobra was rescued from the backyard of a house in Khamarasahi village, a nine-feet-long python was similarly rescued at Righagada village by forest personnel who have honed the skill in snake rehabilitation," said forest officials.

After locals spotted the poisonous snakes, they informed the forest official and did not cause harm to the reptiles. After being rescued, both the monocle cobra and python were released into the mangrove forest, the safe habitat of the snakes.
