Shillong, April 25 -- In a crackdown on illegal coal trading, sleuths of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has raided several coal traders in Meghalaya and Assam, seized unaccounted cash and incriminating documents, an official said on Friday.
The search operations was conducted by ED, Shillong Sub Zonal Office on Thursday in connection with illegal coal mining and illegal coke plants running in Meghalaya under the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002.
During the simultaneous raids at Jadigittim and Nongalbibra villages in Meghalaya's South Garo Hills district, Jadugopha (Bobgaigaon), Marghrita (Tinsukia) and Guwahati in Assam, ED officials seized an unaccounted cash of Rs. 1.58 crore, various incriminating docum...
