Shimla, July 6 -- Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the Central Government to explore the feasibility of opening the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra (KMY) through the Shipki-La pass in Kinnaur district.
In his letter, the Chief Minister highlighted that the Shipki-La route, historically a significant Indo-Tibetan trade and cultural corridor, offers a strategic and spiritually important pathway for Indian pilgrims.
He stated that this route reflects deep-rooted civilisational ties to Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar, sacred pilgrimage sites for Hindus, Buddhists, and Jains.
