Thiruvananthapuram, Sept. 12 -- Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has directed officials to ensure that National Highway (NH) development works in the State are completed on time without compromising technical standards.

Urging the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to take stern action against contractors responsible for delays, the Chief Minister said that the Authority was performing well overall, but progress had slowed at stretches in Vadakara, Thuravoor and Thiruvananthapuram.

Referring to local protests in Nadapuram, Kannur, he instructed that an underpass be constructed to accommodate buses, adding that such issues must be resolved as special cases.
