Hyderabad, Sept. 8 -- Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy today laid the foundation stone for the Godavari Phase 2 and 3 projects at Gandipet, announcing that his government will move 20 TMC of Godavari water to Hyderabad, of which 16 TMC will be used for drinking purposes and 4 TMC to clean the polluted Musi river.
Tracing Hyderabad's water history, the CM recalled how Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar built by the Nizam in 1908, saved the city from floods and sustained the drinking water supply for decades.
He credited successive Congress governments for bringing the Manjira waters in 1965 and the Krishna waters in three phases by 2002.
