Srinagar, Oct. 3 -- Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today directed departments, district officers to be prepared to deal with adverse weather conditions from October 4 onwards.

Chairing a high-level meeting at the Civil Secretariat, he reviewed the readiness of various departments following a Meteorological Centre advisory warning of an active Western Disturbance likely to bring rain and snowfall across Jammu and Kashmir.

An official spokesman said the Chief Minister emphasized that all concerned departments must remain in a state of full readiness to minimize possible damage to fruit crops, ensure uninterrupted supply of essential services and keep all major roads and highways functional during the weather disturbance.
