Bhubaneswar, June 3 -- Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday announced an assistance package of Rs 41.17 crore for all cotton pickers and workers in the state.

Majhi made the announcement during his visit to Deogarh district, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of 15 various welfare projects worth about Rs 205 crore.

The Chief Minister said about 9 lakh cotton pickers and signal staff in the state will benefit from the assistance.

He said that Rs 160 will be provided to cotton pickers for slippers, Rs 200 for curry collection cloth, Rs 100 for caps for pickers and signal staff, and Rs 700 each for mosquito nets and blankets for cotton pickers.
