Bengaluru, Dec. 23 -- The Karnataka Congress finds itself once again grappling with an unresolved leadership question, with a proposed meeting in Delhi in January now expected to play a decisive role in determining whether Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will continue in office or whether Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar will be elevated to the top post.

Despite months of public displays of unity and multiple interactions with the party high command, the leadership issue has remained unsettled. Party leaders privately concede that repeated claims and counter-claims of support, coupled with frequent consultations in Delhi, have failed to bring clarity, leading instead to growing unease within the party and among legislators.
