Thiruvananthapuram, Sept. 16 -- Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan today took the State Assembly by surprise by agreeing to suspend all listed business to debate an adjournment motion on custodial torture, catching the Opposition off guard on an issue it had planned to corner the government with.
Moving the motion, Congress MLA Roji M John sought the Leave of the House to discuss the custodial torture of Youth Congress leader Sujith of Chovannur in Thrissur in 2023, the CCTV visuals of which surfaced recently. He alleged that the LDF government was shielding police officers involved in the incident.
