Mumbai, June 4 -- As part of its campaign against single-use plastics ahead of World Environment Day on Thursday, the Maharashtra government plans to install a cloth bag vending machine at Mantralaya, the state secretariat, officials said on Wednesday. This initiative aims to promote sustainable alternatives and raise awareness among daily visitors to the government complex.
All departments within the secretariat have been instructed to collect and deposit single-use plastic items from their offices as part of the drive.
The Environment and Climate Change Department will inaugurate the vending machine on Thursday at Mantralaya's Trimurti location, demonstrating the government's commitment to reducing plastic waste.
