Chandigarh, Sept. 26 -- Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla today emphasised that the true strength of democracy lies in people's trust, which can only be strengthened when Parliament and State Legislatures function in a transparent, orderly and accountable manner.

He noted that there should be no grey areas while preparing the draft of a law. Ambiguity in drafting, he cautioned, increases the scope for judicial intervention. If legislative drafting is clear, simple and free of grey areas, judicial review can be conducted without unnecessary interference, an official statement said.

Birla further underlined that the Constitution clearly defines the separation of powers among the Legislature, Executive and Judiciary.
