Kanpur, July 30 -- A deeply saddening incident occurred in Dadanagar Colony, Kanpur, where an 11-year-old student of Class 6 lost his life under distressing circumstances after returning home from school.
The student, Swastik Sharma, was studying at Saraswati Vidya Mandir Inter College in Govind Nagar. On Tuesday, he wore a silver chain to school, a gift given to him by his parents on his birthday in May. The school reportedly confiscated the chain, stating that it would be returned upon a parent's visit.
After coming home from school, Swastik went to his room, and fearing being scolded by his mother, he ended his life by hanging from a ceiling fan.
