Unnao, Sept. 22 -- Tension flared in Manohar Nagar area under Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh tonight after a rally sparked a violent confrontation between protesters and police.
According to reports, a group of people organised a procession in support of a slogan. Upon receiving information, Gangaghat police station SHO Ajay Kumar Singh, along with police personnel, reached the spot to control the situation.
As police attempted to stop the rally, the crowd turned aggressive. Protesters allegedly engaged in pushing and shoving with officers before pelting stones at the police force. In the chaos, an inspector's uniform insignia was reportedly torn off by the crowd.
