Kendrapara, Dec. 22 -- Tension continues to prevail in Petachela village under Jamboo Marine Police Station inOdisha's Kendrapara district after two groups clashed over rights to harvest paddy on government land.
Anticipating a further deterioration of the law and order situation, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Kendrapara promulgated prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the BNSS at the agricultural land.
According to sources, a resident of Petachela village, Habu Nanda, had acquired 24 acres of government land. Around 20 tenants had been cultivating paddy on the land for several years with his permission.
Recently, Habu Nanda handed over the land to Sisir Kumar Rout and directed the tenants to provide paddy to him.
