New Delhi, July 21 -- Chief Justice of India BR Gavai on Monday rebuked advocate Mathews J Nedumpara for addressing Justice Yashwant Varma, who is facing controversy over cash notes recovered from his official residence, without using the honorific title 'justice'.
While Nedumpara was mentioning for urgent listing his writ petition seeking registration of an FIR against Justice Varma, CJI Gavai interrupted him. "Is he your friend? He is still Justice Varma. How do you address him? Have some decorum. You are referring to a learned judge," the CJI remarked firmly, emphasising that Justice Varma continues to remain a sitting High Court judge.
"This is the third writ petition," Nedumpara said while urging immediate listing.
