Nagpur, Jan. 2 -- Political tension escalated in Ward 13-D of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation on Friday following the withdrawal of a BJP candidate's nomination, triggering protests by party workers outside the residence of BJP leader Kisan Gawande.

According to sources, the Bharatiya Janata Party had issued AB forms to two candidates, Kisan Gawande and Vijay Hole, from Ward 13-D. However, on the eve of the last date for withdrawal of nominations, the party leadership instructed Gawande to withdraw his candidature.

As news of the decision spread, a large number of Gawande's supporters gathered outside his residence and opposed the move.
