Gangtok, Sept. 7 -- Sikkim is set to broaden its tourism with the opening of Chola and Doklam, two high-altitude destinations located at 13,000-14,000 feet, from September 27.

"From September 27, we will allow regulated visits to Chola and Doklam. To ensure safety and sustainability, only 25 vehicles per day will be permitted initially, and permits will be issued shortly. A meeting with stakeholders will be held before rollout," said C.S. Rao, Additional Chief Secretary, Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, Government of Sikkim.

Rao clarified that these locations will be open only for Indian tourists, as foreigners will not be allowed beyond Changu.
