Beijing, Jan. 12 -- China calls on the United States to immediately cease any threats and sanctions against Cuba, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Monday.

On Thursday, US President Donald Trump said that Washington had no options left to pressure Cuba besides invasion and bombings. Cuba will no longer receive Venezuelan oil as compensation for security services, Trump added.

"China firmly supports Cuba in safeguarding its state sovereignty and security, opposes external interference, and once again urges the US to immediately cease its blockade, sanctions and any threats against Cuba," Mao told a briefing.
