Aizawl, Feb. 27 -- In a significant political development, two major anti-junta factions from Myanmar's Chin state-the Chinland Council (CC) and the Interim Chin National Consultative Council (ICNCC)-have merged to form a single entity known as the Chin National Council (CNC).

The unification agreement was signed in Aizawl on Wednesday in the presence of Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma.

The pact, hailed as a historic step towards unity, was inked by representatives from both sides, including leaders of the CC's armed wing, the Chin National Army (CNA), and civil resistance militias aligned with the group.
