Mexico City, April 23 -- The Chilean government has accepted Brazil's invitation to attend the July BRICS summit, President Gabriel Boric said.

"President Lula invited me to attend the G20 summit last year, and this year we are also going to attend the BRICS summit," Boric said during a joint press conference with his Brazilian counterpart, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, on Tuesday.

The BRICS summit will be held in Rio de Janeiro from July 6-7.

BRICS is an interstate association created in 2006 by Russia, China, India and Brazil. South Africa joined in 2011. Since the beginning of 2024, a number of other countries have joined BRICS.
