Ranchi, Sept. 9 -- Jharkhand Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari has directed officials to conduct a statewide survey of transgenders to ensure that the benefits of various government welfare schemes reach them effectively.

Presiding over a meeting of the Jharkhand Transgender Welfare Board, Tiwari said, "Only through a proper survey can the district-wise population of transgenders, their needs, and aspirations be identified.
