Bengaluru, Dec. 12 -- Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Friday expressed strong concern over reported remarks attributed to Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara suggesting that bulldozers could be used to raze the homes of alleged drug peddlers.
In an X post, Chidambaram said he hoped the report was incorrect, warning that any such action would be in direct violation of Supreme Court rulings that prohibit demolition of homes without due process.
He noted that such bulldozer-led punitive action would also infringe upon the fundamental and human rights of innocent family members who have a constitutional right to shelter.
