Sukma, June 8 -- A villager has been brutally murdered allegedly by Naxalites in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, police said on Sunday.
A group of 10-15 Naxalites allegedly carried out the killing, using sharp-edged weapons to attack the victim in Poovarti village under Jagaragunda police station area on Saturday.
A suspicion that the victim was a police informer allegedly led to his murder.
The incident has created an atmosphere of fear and terror in the area.
Poovarti village is the home of top Naxalite leader Madavi Hidma. Several incidents involving the Naxalites have occurred in the village in the past.
