Jagdalpur, May 6 -- A uniformed female Naxalite with a bounty of Rs eight lakh was killed in an alleged encounter between police and Naxalites in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh.
In a separate incident, Naxalites allegedly murdered a sub-sarpanch.
The killed Naxalite has been identified as a member of the PLGA Battalion No 1. The encounter took place when a team of District Reserve Police Force, Special Task Force, Central Security Force, and COBRA battalion launched an anti-Naxalite operation in the jungles of Bijapur district.
After the encounter, the body of the uniformed female Naxalite was recovered along with a 303 rifle. According to police, the possibility of more Naxalites being killed cannot be ruled out.
