Jalgaon, Aug. 8 -- Nine year old Chess prodigy Aarit Kapil today won the title in the 38th National Under-11 Open Chess Championship here. Aarit was dominant throughout the tournament scoring 9.5 pointsl West Bengal's Oishik Mondal with 9 points finished second.

Aarit, a Class V student, created waves when he held World Champion Magnus Carlsen to a draw in an online blitz game at the 'Early Titled Tuesday' chess tournament on June 24. Aarit also became the third-youngest player globally to defeat a Grandmaster in classical chess when he won against Raset Ziatdinov of the US in December, 2024.
