Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 19 -- Without complying with most of UNESCO's standards, the Chief Minister's hasty announcement that Kerala has become the first state in India to achieve total digital literacy is nothing but an election gimmick, alleged Congress leader Cherian Philip.
He said, "The claim of universal internet connectivity through K-FON is a myth. Though Kerala leads in the sales of computers and mobile phones, it lags behind in usability." According to him, the vast majority of Keralites acquired the skills to use digital devices either on their own or with the support of the public, without much help from government systems.
