Thiruvananthapuram, Dec. 24 -- Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala on Wednesday reiterated his demand for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe under court supervision into the alleged Sabarimala gold theft case, saying the issue has grown beyond the scope of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) as it now involves international dimensions.
Talking to newspersons here, Chennithala said he was not questioning the sincerity of the SIT, but stressed that cases with global ramifications require an agency with wider jurisdiction and expertise.
"This is a matter that has wounded the religious sentiments of crores of devotees in India and abroad. Only a court-monitored CBI investigation can bring out the truth," he said.
