Agartala, April 21 -- The Chennai police on Monday took away a local jewellery shop owner from Bishalgarh in Tripura's Sepahijala district, who was detained in a gold theft case in Tamil Nadu's capital.

A group of businessmen in Bishalgarh tried to prevent police from taking Satya Ranjan Karmakar to Chennai, but finally, the police managed to take off from the Agartala airport. They demanded that Karmakar should be interrogated in Tripura and tried in a local court.
