Jammu, June 24 -- Jammu Police have started an investigation in a bizarre incident of cheating in the Fixed Deposits (FDs) of worth lakhs in one of the branches of a private bank here at Janipur.
Police on Tuesday said that a woman, who had two FDs in a private bank worth Rs 39 lakhs (Rs 25 lakh and Rs 14 lakh) have lodged a complaint at Police Station Janipur that the FDs are prematurely broken and the amount is withdrawn without her consent.
"A widow lady has lodged a complaint that two FDs worth Rs. 39 lakhs are broken and the money was withdrawn," police said, adding that a case under FIR No:-91/2025 has been registered and investigation is taken up.
