Chandrapur, Dec. 23 -- : The Special Investigation Team (SIT) and the Local Crime Branch have achieved a major breakthrough in the Chandrapur kidney trafficking case with the arrest of the prime accused, Ramakrishna Mallesham Sunchu, from Solapur, officials said.
According to officials , the case is linked to the illegal kidney sale of Roshan Kule, a resident of Minthur village in Nagbhid tehsil of Chandrapur district in Maharashtra.
The accused had allegedly been posing as a doctor, but investigations revealed that he was in fact acting as an agent in an international kidney trafficking network, said officials.
Police investigations have further revealed that Ramakrishna had sold his own kidney in Cambodia in 2018 for money.
