Shillong, Feb. 22 -- Assam Police on Saturday arrested Chancellor of University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) Mahbubul Hoque for alleged CBSE examination malpractice.
Hoque was arrested from his residence in Ghoramara locality in Assam's main city of Guwahati by
a police team comprising Panbazar Police and Special Task Force (STF) of the Assam Police.
According to sources, Hoque arrest is linked to allegations of taking money in exchange for facilitating unfair means during the CBSE Class 12 Physics examination.
Sources said that a total of 274 students appeared for the Physics exam at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Assam's Sribhumi formerly known as Karimganj district, including 45 from the school and 214
