Tumakuru, June 9 -- Karnataka Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara on Monday said the State Government has received a letter from the Centre recommending that the probe into the murder of Suhas Shetty be handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Shetty was a Karnataka Bajrang Dal leader and the prime accused in the 2022 murder of a 23-year-old youth. He was killed in Mangaluru on May 1 by a group of men.
Speaking to media, Dr Parameshwara said, "I believe the letter came yesterday. I was informed about it by the Director General of Police. A decision about the NIA handover will be taken today."
The minister also said he met Union Minister V Somanna earlier in the day to discuss two key issues related to Tumakuru district.
