New Delhi, Feb. 4 -- The Central government and the Ladakh administration on Tuesday informed the Supreme Court that all procedural safeguards prescribed under law were followed while ordering the preventive detention of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk under the National Security Act (NSA).

The submissions were made by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta before a Bench comprising Justice Aravind Kumar and Justice P.B. Varale, which was hearing a plea challenging Wangchuk's detention.

The petition has been filed by his wife, Gitanjali J. Angmo.

Opposing the challenge, the Solicitor General asserted that Wangchuk had been given fair treatment and that the statutory authorities had acted strictly in accordance with the scheme of the NSA.
