Thiruvananthapuram, Dec. 19 -- Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan Friday affirmed that the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) would continue to be held in the state, rising above what he termed as repeated "fascist and anti-democratic interventions" aimed at undermining its existence.

Addressing the valedictory session of the 30th edition of IFFK, the Chief Minister said there were deliberate attempts to stifle the three-decade-old festival, forcing the state government to adopt a firm and uncompromising stand.

The decision to go ahead with the screening of films that were initially denied permission was part of the government's commitment to safeguard freedom of expression, he said.
