Shimla, Sept. 27 -- The union Government of India has allocated Rs 67.955 crore to Himachal Pradesh as part of the latest instalment of the 15th Finance Commission grants.

These funds are designated for rural local bodies, including district, block, and gram panchayats.

The grants, recommended by the Ministries of Panchayati Raj and Jal Shakti, are released by the Finance Ministry in two instalments per financial year. The funding is divided into two categories: Untied and tied grants.

Untied grants provide flexibility to panchayats, allowing them to address location-specific needs across 29 subjects listed in the Constitution's Eleventh Schedule, excluding salary expenditures.
